It Was 1950
I used to blog every day (or close to it), but I guess college got in the way. But this is a result of friends saying I should reclaim my love for it and a desire to have a place to write.
The year was 1950. Dylan Thomas first read poetry in the U.S.. My grandparents got married. And a book was published. This book would be the first of several in a series. It would eventually be one of those books parents read to their children. This book was The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis. It would go on to become classic literature and the favorite of children around the world. Including me.
So why are these stories special? Why would a college student name a blog after them? Well, these stories are TRUE. They may not be what people perceive as real, but they are TRUE. The difference between this TRUTH and the truth that I am in college is all in the humanity and representation of something bigger. These stories show the capacity God has for love and grace and sacrifice. Those are the ultimate TRUTHS. And if a story reaches beyond the perception of reality the way this story does, it represents a greater TRUTH than we see every day. That is what we like to refer to as Deep Magic. This story is filled with the Deepest Magic and ultimate TRUTH.
So that's why this is The 1950. I'll post about this more in depth later on, but for now I'll let that sink in. I'm on mobile so I can't attach a playlist, but while writing I listened to "Wait" by M83, and "For My Help" by Hayden Calnin.
